Alex Cooper; Suspect In Tobago Murder Nabbed
Asuspect has been held in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Alex Cooper in Tobago on Sunday morning.
Cooper, police said, was originally from Samuel Cooper Trace, Moruga.
He was shot dead at 7am on Sunday along Keens Dumas Lane off Logwood Park, Scarborough.
The suspect was detained at 5:15pm that day and taken to the Roxborough Police Station by officers of the Tobago Division.
A woman Cooper knew was also detained briefly for questioning.
Residents of Keens Dumas Lane reportedly heard a commotion along the roadway and saw Cooper arguing with a group of men.
Gunshots were then heard, and Cooper was seen attempting to run.
He fell into a drain off the roadway bleeding from gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.
This is the second murder reported in the sister isle for the year thus far.
On February 9, Nigel Sandy was fatally shot near his home in Plymouth.
Residents heard several explosions and found Sandy on the ground bleeding from multiple wounds.
The police and emergency health services were notified and the injured man was rushed to the Scarborough General Hospital.
However, he later succumbed to his wounds.
