Alexander Skyer Lee Atkins Obituary, 1 Motorcyclist Dead, 1 Injured After Crash On North Carolina Highway
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly highway crash, according to Sergeant Chris Scerri with the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened Thursday around 3 p.m. on I26 westbound between mile marker 40 and 41.
According to troopers, witnesses say two motorcycles were driving recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic when they hit the back of a tractor-trailer.
The first motorcyclist was seriously injured and taken to Mission Hospital, troopers say.
The second motorcyclist was taken to Pardee, where he was pronounced dead and his motorcycle caught fire, according to troopers.
The second motorcyclist was identified as Alexander Skyer Lee Atkins, 19.
There are no charges at this time, according to troopers.
