Christopher Aaron Rey; Sexual Predator In Home Invasion Identified As Fort Bliss Soldier
A man accused of forcing his way into an apartment to sexually assault a woman was identified as a soldier at Fort Bliss.
The arrest affidavit for Christopher Aaron Rey revealed the soldier returned to the victim’s apartment days after the first alleged encounter.
Rey reportedly pushed open the victim’s front door to sexually assault the victim.
The victim woke up to take her dog outside, which she routinely does, on April 7 around 8:15 a.m., according to the arrest affidavit.
She told police investigators the door pushed open when she opened it to take her dog outside.
Rey reportedly stood at the doorway and forced his way into the victim’s apartment.
She told investigators Rey held her arms as she screamed.
Rey reportedly covered the victim’s mouth with his hand and then sexually assaulted the victim before he ran out of the apartment.
Police officers were called to the apartment for the alleged sexual assault.
The victim told police she recognized the suspect when she went to Lone Star Laundromat at 1422 Airway on March 27.
Police investigators reviewed surveillance video from the laundromat and found footage of Rey at the laundromat on the day the victim stated he was there.
Four days later, police got a call from the victim in a panic because Rey showed up at her apartment again.
The victim told the detective she saw Rey on her Ring camera where he was recorded checking the doorknob.
The police officer reviewed the footage and saw Rey wearing a military uniform.
The recording showed Rey walking up the apartment door while holding his crotch, stated the affidavit.
Rey was seen trying to hide from the camera as he tried to open the door.
During the police officer’s investigation, footage recorded on May 27 from a car dealership near the laundromat, confirmed Rey was at the laundromat.
The footage showed the vehicle Rey was driving.
As the investigation continued, Rey returned to the apartment, a third time on the same day, and was recorded on the Ring camera.
The police officer spotted Rey driving a blue newer model Hyundai Tucson driving slowly on the street the apartment is located at.
Rey reportedly parked the SUV behind the victim’s apartment.
He drove toward the police officer when the police officer approached Rey’s SUV.
The police officer told Rey to turn off the vehicle and get out.
Instead, Rey sped off.
The police officer stated they recognized Rey from the footage they had reviewed.
The officer also noticed Rey was wearing military fatigue pants and an olive green t-shirt.
Rey was identified with the help of Fort Bliss Criminal Investigation Division.
The victim viewed a photo line up and identified Rey as the suspect who sexually assaulted her and the man who returned to her apartment days later.
Rey was arrested on Thursday and charged with burglary of habitation.
He remains in the El Paso County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
Rey is scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge on Friday.
