Dajuan Blair Harris Obituary, Jackson Driver Killed In Fatal Crash On U.S. 223; Kelvin Valdez-Paulino, 40, Of Newark Critical
The driver who died in a crash Tuesday on U.S. 223, as well as the driver who was injured, have been identified by law enforcement.
Dajuan Blair Harris, 39, of Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 223 in the area of Rollin Highway in Woodstock Township, a news release from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office said.
Kelvin Valdez-Paulino, 40, of Newark, New Jersey, was critically injured, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies determined that a Lincoln SUV driven by Harris was heading eastbound on U.S. 223 at a high rate of speed in the process of overtaking several vehicles when Harris lost control of the vehicle, crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with a Lexus passenger car that was traveling westbound, the release said.
Harris was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. Paulino, the driver of the Lexus, was critically injured and taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson for treatment.
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Cambridge Township Police Department, Addison Fire Department, Somerset Township Fire Department and the Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team.
