Two people are dead, and two other victims are injured after gunfire erupted at a Labor Day pool party on Monday 5th 2022 night.
Kansas City Police officers have identified the two deceased victims as Deshawn Dudley, 26, and Dondre Hart, 20. It happened at a home near 73rd and Manchester in Kansas City.
The two other shooting victims were hospitalized and were in stable condition as at Tuesday afternoon. On Tuesday, Chris Dilla was loading hookahs he was hired to bring to the party into a car.
He says he was about five feet from where the shooting occurred on Monday.
“I have no idea what happened. I don’t know why, because everybody was having a good time, and then out of nowhere, the shooting started outside, not inside. People were standing outside and started shooting,” Dilla said.
Neighbor James Edward Ford Senior said he heard gunfire sitting in his home Monday night. “They have parties here all the time, all the time, especially on the Fourth of July, they have a beautiful display over here. This is the first time something like this has ever happened, the years I’ve been living over here,” he said.
So far, no arrests have been made following Monday night’s shooting.
