Emanuel Dandrea,… Obituary, 2 Killed, 11-Year-Old Girl Seriously Injured in Crash on Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook
Two people were killed and an 11-year-old girl was seriously injured in a crash involving a sport utility vehicle and a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon in Holbrook, Suffolk County police said.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Coates Avenue about 1:20 p.m. Veterans Highway reopened after being closed for several hours in both directions south of Long Island MacArthur Airport while police investigated.
Police identified the drivers killed in the crash Wednesday evening.
Emanuel Dandrea, 74, of Shoreham, was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox making a left turn from westbound Veterans Memorial Highway onto southbound Coates Avenue and collided with a 2002 Honda motorcycle traveling east on Veterans Highway, police said.
Dandrea and the motorcyclist, Alaaeldien Elfaham, 23, of Deer Park, were both declared dead at the scene, police said.
An 11-year-old girl, Alana Lika, of Holbrook, who was seriously injured, and an unidentified 8-year-old girl in the Equinox, who had non-life-threatening injuries, were taken by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital.
