Essadin Jamal Hassan Death and Obituary, 23-year-old Victim Identified in North Portland Fatal Shooting

Portland police have identified a 23-year-old man as the city’s most recent homicide victim.

Essadin Jamal Hassan, of Portland, was shot Monday September 19, 2022 night in the parking lot at Northgate Park, police said.

He was the second person in a little more than a month to die after being shot near the park.

Officers responded around 7:30 p.m. to calls that shots had been fired at the park, where officers found evidence of gunfire but no suspect. Police said Hassan arrived in a private car at the hospital, where he later died.

The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide by gunshot wound.

On Aug. 14, 26-year-old Adrian Perdomo died in the Northgate Park parking lot. A memorial still sits there in his memory.

Hassan’s death marks the 70th homicide in Portland so far in 2022 – the same number of people killed by the same date last year, when Portland experienced a record of 92.
