Franklin S. Zang Obituary, Ridley Park Man Killed In Fiery I-95 Crash

The man killed late Friday in a crash and fire along Interstate 95 in Ridley Township was identified Sunday as Franklin S. Zang, 31, of Ridley Park, according to state police.

Troopers gave this account:

Zang was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at milepost 7.8. The crash occurred shortly before 11 p.m.

Due to excessive speed, Zang was unable to negotiate a curve in the highway in his southbound SUV. The vehicle went off the road, traveled 174 feet through a grassy area and slammed into a utility pole and its concrete base.

The 1991 Chevrolet Suburban burst into flames, trapping Zang.

Troopers were unable to determine if Zang was wearing a seat belt.
