John A. Vandemark Obituary, Michigan Man Missing Since Valentine’S Day Found Dead
After missing for two months, an Ithaca man has been found deceased.
Gratiot County Sheriff’s deputies previously announced 65-year-old John A. Vandemark was last seen around Feb. 14. They said he lived near Ithaca High School at 710 Union St., did not own a vehicle, and was believed to have been on foot. He also left his cellphone at his home, deputies said.
Deputies asked area residents to check their garages and sheds for Vandemark, as well as any security or Ring cameras that might have captured footage of him.
The search ended with deputies discovering Vandemark’s body about 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12. In a press release, Undersheriff Steve Sopocy said Vandemark was found in Hamilton Township, several miles from his last known location, and had been dead for some time.
Sopocy did not elaborate on if Vandemark’s body was found outdoors or inside a structure, and MLive was unable to reach him for comment.
No foul play is suspected and an autopsy is planned to determined the cause and manner of Vandemark’s death.
