Kimberly Yucone Death and Obituary; Wife Brutally Killed by Husband in Dona Ana County
A 48-year-old woman living in Dona Ana County is believed to have been murdered by her husband.
In 2021, the couple owned Forghedaboudit Italian, a popular restaurant in Las Cruces. Kimberly Yucone, was found dead inside her home at 6530 Vista De Oro in Las Cruces on Sunday.
Kimberly’s husband, Robert Kevin, and is facing charges of murder and felon with a firearm. Sheriff’s deputies received a 911 call at 7:42 p.m. from Robert’s biological son, Nockolas Yacone, telling a dispatcher, that his mother was severely injured and there was a 12-gauge shotgun inside the home.
Sheriff Kim Stewart said Nockolas stayed on the phone for 7 minutes. During that time, the couple’s other son, Trent, went to a neighbor’s home crying that his mother had been shot and asked for help, Stewart said.
When deputies arrived at 7:58 p.m. they learned Robert was at the home, but didn’t know Kimberly was severely injured inside.
Stewart said deputies forced their way into the home and found Kimberly in the master bedroom dead.
Kimberly had injuries to her face and back, Stewart said. Other deputies who arrived at the scene to secure the area notified deputies inside that Robert was in the balcony, which is attached to the master bedroom.
Minutes later, deputies started to negotiate with Robert. Stewart said Robert told authorities he was armed with a handgun.
She said a negotiator told Robert, “Robert put the gun down.” Seconds later, deputies fired their weapons toward Robert.
Officers and medical staff at the scene rendered aid to Robert. He was taken to a hospital where he remained Tuesday. Stewart said Kimberly had filed four restraining orders against Robert this year.
She added since January 22, deputies had been called to the home 15 times. Two of the calls stemmed from domestic disputes, Stewart said.
Robert is expected to survive. Robert will be booked into jail for first-degree murder once he’s released from the hospital.
