Stamford Motorcyclist Crash; 23-year-old Stamford Motorcyclist, Dies In Fiery Crash With SUV, Police Say
A 23-year-old city resident died after being thrown from his motorcycle in a fiery crash with an SUV Friday night, police say.
According to Stamford police, a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle traveling southbound on High Ridge Road appears to have crossed the the centerline of the roadway and collided with the front end of a 2014 Honda Accord around 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Police said the impact of the crash caused the motorcyclist, a 23-year-old Stamford resident, to be thrown from his bike and off of the roadway. The motorcycle then caught fire, and another driver who was in the area attempted to extinguish the fire but was unsuccessful, police said. The Stamford Fire Department eventually extinguished the flames.
The motorcyclist, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, a 63-year-old city resident, did not report any injuries.
